My story
This Case International 255 was the only tractor in my family from the time when dad bought the house until I got my first tractor in 2023. Dad bought it in the early 1990’s for maintaining the property. At the time he also bought the loader and a belly mower with it. He cleaned the property up, used it during the house remodel, mowed the grass with it, and used it for firewood my entire life. This was the first tractor I learned to drive when I was 12. Both of my brothers learned how to drive a tractor on this one too. I also have many memories of dad giving me rides on it when I was small enough to sit on his lap. I still use this tractor for a lot of utility work around my property. It is definitely the most universally capable and practical tractor that I keep at my house. I do try to use it a little easier than it has been worked in the past, partly because parts are getting hard to find and partly because I have bigger equipment available when I need it now. I remember having to use this tractor to it absolute limits when pulling trees out of the timber, or when loading stuff with the loader, or having to use a finish mower for brush cutting. Much of that hard work is being done by my other tractors, or with the right equipment now. I also remember driving this tractor on the road for an hour or more at a time sometimes because we didn’t have a truck or trailer capable of hauling it.

The restoration
This tractor has had a variety of maintenance done to it over the years but it hasn't had a full restoration yet. Dad was moving concrete with it one time and broke the gears in the front end. Luckily parts were still available at the time. Dad also repainted the tractor sometime in the early 2010s if I recall. Most other work done to it has been regular maintenance. I am hoping to fully restore it in the next few years though with fresh paint, replacing worn out parts, and a few upgrades as well. It will be a restoration as in depth as I have done to my Farmall B.

This tractor has a 3 cylinder Mitsubishi diesel. The hydraulic system is an open center system good for about 10 GPM. It makes for a slow log splitter tractor but dad spent countless hours running one on here anyway. This tractor has options including 4WD, differential lock, a synchronized transmission, draft control 3 point, and live PTO.
History
I haven’t found a lot of information about the Case International 200 series that this tractor was a part of. From what ive found it appears that Mitsubishi produced these tractors for Case IH. The 200 series was started shortly after Case acquired the International harvester company around 1985. The 255, which appeared in 1986, was the successor to the 254 and was eventually replaced by the 1140 in 1991.
